Sky and Joey’s Final Throwback Thursday

Sky and Joey’s Final Throwback Thursday

Sky Kustes and Joey Maier May 5, 2022
Yesterday was our last day of senior year. Collectively, Sky and I are getting slightly emotional. To celebrate, we are going all the way back to 2019, the year we were freshmen. This is music we were bumping to when we were children.

Sky and Joey’s Throwback Thursday

This week, we are sort of defeating the purpose of “throwback”. Sky and myself decided to take a spin on the newer age of R&B music. We had lots of options to pick from, but we were able to narrow it down to these two fantastic songs.

Sky and Joey’s Release Radar

Sky Kustes and Joey Maier April 22, 2022
BEHOLD! Release Radar makes its return. The last few weeks haven’t seen such a large turnout in new music releases, which is sad. Summer is approaching fast, with many music festivals coming up, artists are dropping tour dates, and a few of our favorites have dropped new music. These are our picks for our final Friday of High School.
Album Review: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Album Review: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Sky Kustes, Staff Writer April 20, 2022
“This album is a classic” is a sentiment I often hear. Sure, many albums from bands like The Doors, The Beatles, Ramones, and Nirvana, as well as single acts like Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash have been played time and time again over the many decades since they were released; but what is it that makes these artists and albums “classic”? I set out to find a classic album that doesn't get nearly as much attention than the other artists listed above. I decided on David Bowie’s "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars", released in 1972.

Covers are a hotly debated point in music, with artists covering classic and well-established songs to mixed reviews. I mean, how can one artist make a song better than the original artist can? That just sounds crazy, although, it has been done before. Joey and I have selected our favorite covers for this Throwback Thursday, and we hope you enjoy.

For this week's Throwback Thursday, we are taking it back ten years to 2012. Overall, a great year for music, with many amazing artists dropping very memorable projects. Here are our favorites.

This week, Joey and I take it back to the earlier days of alternative rock, with The Doors’ signature psychedelic sound and Pink Floyd’s iconic progressive rock. These songs are great, but they have an even greater influence on society beyond the music world.

Music is something we all consume, with various genres, artists, and services to listen to it on, there truly has never been a better time to be a music fan.

Another week goes by, and another week of mid music. Joey and I struggled last week to find good songs for you fine readers, and it isn’t looking like it's getting better.
