Walkup songs are an extremely important part of a good at bat in baseball. They are a way for players to get in the zone. A good Walkup song could be the difference between hitting a nuke or striking out. Many Walkup songs have personal meaning and others are just relevant hype up songs. Because I love music, I have decided that it is necessary for me to rank the top ten Walkup songs for the 2023 team.
“We are incredibly honored and humbled to be the first Kentucky high school team to be invited to USA Baseball's National High School Invitational Tournament,” Coach Porta said. “There are around 250 teams in Kentucky, there has to be thousands and thousands of teams in the country, for St. X to be one of only 16 teams invited, we are honored. Now it's time to get back to work and prove we deserve such an honor.”
St. X has a storied history of winning state championships. Last spring, the Tigers made history once again, pulling off a clean sweep in state championships for spring sports for the first time ever. The four spring sports the Tigers won are: baseball, lacrosse, tennis, and track and field. The Tigers have only completed a season sweep once in 2009 when St. X swept the fall season sports. These spring sports, along with swimming, were honored in the tiger tunnel last Friday.
Wednesday, April 27 — The Tigers got their revenge against the Trinity Shamrocks from last year in the Regional Championship. The Tigers led the whole game and won 8-2.
The Tigers take on the Rocks in baseball Wednesday, April 27, and they need our support! This is a massive game for St. X as they play in a top five matchup in the state. These two heavy hitters have more on the line than just rivalry records and bragging rights.
"We've won it before with less talent, but great chemistry, and we've lost at State in the past with more talent but questionable chemistry. If we can put all the pieces together, this 2022 team has the potential to be great. A lot more hard work and time will tell," Coach Porta said.
The signing day is a celebration of the accomplishments of these athletes throughout their high school careers and an official recognition of their most recent achievement.
