Many students at St. X hear stories from their dad’s about how great this place is and what they’ve gained from it. The students that hear those stories come to expect the great things that come from St. X, but there is also a population students who don’t have this prior experience and are paving the way for their families as first generation Tigers.
For senior Brooks Mahoney, his experience has really been centered around the brotherhood. He is grateful for his time and is looking forward to seeing his St. X legacy grow with him leading the way in his family.
“The highlights throughout my years here have definitely been growing a being a part of the brotherhood here at St. X,” Mahoney said. “I think being able to apart of something bigger than just myself and my education is something truly special. To be the first one at St.X means everything. It means being able to truly express how special it is and hopefully be able to have cousins and eventually my kids here.”
In a similar way for senior Ben Dakin, his experience was based around innovation and the things he is able to achieve because of St. X. He is excited to continue his journey forward and very glad about how much St. X has supported him.
“St. X has completely changed my life,” Dakin said. “Through out the years, St. X has been there for me and has helped me pursue my passions and interests. It’s engineering lab is a major highlight though as not many other high school have a college level design and tinker lab like St. X. Through that alone I gained enough knowledge to develop my engineering skills, so much so that I was able to even get an internship out of it. Along with that, the teachers here have a true passion for teaching and want their students to succeed. They strive for excellence and service, which are two things that I believe every person should do. St. X has provided me an experience that no other school could offer and I cant thank them enough for it.”
Senior Marlon Harbin’s experience was focused on the memories he has created through his journey and the memories he has made along the way on and off the field. He is thankful to be part of the St. X tradition and hopes that it will continue in the future.
“My time at St. X has been nothing short of amazing,” Harbin reflected. “I’ve learned, and grown into the person I am today through these halls. Being the first generation from my family means a lot, and I just hope the tradition continues with my younger siblings, and the generations to follow. So many great memories here in school and on the football field, I could never name them all; however, just building relationships and bonds with others has been magnificent. I have built bonds that would last a life time, and I don’t know if I would have had that opportunity at another school. This school has helped me in every way, and I could never pour back into the school as much as they have to me. I’m grateful and blessed for this opportunity to attend a such great school at St. X.”
