What do you think is the most important thing about high school? Many of you might say something about getting good grades or prepping for your future, while they are important they aren’t the MOST important. In my opinion is to, in short, have fun.
As a student at St. X we are expected to try our best 24/7 and that’s exhausting. I know they have our best interest a heart, but we need to remember that we’re still kids. We will make mistakes and do things we’re gonna regret, but that’s part of growing up.
We need to remember to be able to just live in the moment and not really worry about work in general. Studying and Homework can come later, just make sure you do it, academics are still important. While you should absolutely have fun and be in the moment with friends, don’t just blow off your work.
Just doing your work can take you to a lot of places that, as of now, you could only dream of. There is also on the other hand, if all you do is work then that can limit you a lot. When you have fun, that is also you, when you interact with other people in a casual sense that’s what grows your ability to function in a social setting, which in many situations can give you a leg up.
Being able to talk to others and just have a regular conversation can get you that job, even if the other person’s resume is more impressive and has more things on there than you. The ability to hold a conversation can still do a lot for you, things that you wouldn’t really expect it to get you.
You probably think I’m over exaggerating, but I’m not. Just being able to be a person can connect you to so many other people in a more personal way. People are built for that connection between each other, it can help us and make things so much easier as time goes on because others are more willing to help in whatever you do.
Just taking time to have fun, live in the moment, and be yourself can do so much for you right now and in the future. You don’t have to take my advice to heart in the end, but I would suggest to try it a little more. So, while in high school don’t forget to be a kid and make those mistakes, somewhat responsibly. You only have so many of these moments to take advantage of before you have to grow up and take on more responsibilities in life.
School is a good thing but it shouldn’t be the main thing you focus on through life. It’s all temporary so just enjoy everything and every moment while you can.
