Exercise physiology, one of the most fascinating electives at St. X, was previously taught by Coach Tronzo but following his departure trainer Mr. Enk took over. This is Mr. Enk’s first year teaching the class, but he quickly made the class one of the top electives.
Mr. Enk started his journey at St. X back in 2024, where he took over as one of three athletic trainers. For the whole 2024-2025 school year, he was just helping athletes recover and get in the best playing shape possible.
Exercise physiology was formally taught by Coach Tronzo, but after Tronzo stepped away from his role at St. X, the exercise physiology class was in jeopardy. St. X turned to Mr. Enk to start his teaching journey.
“I chose to teach this course as it is material that I am familiar with through my current job, and through the work I did in college.” Enk said.
Apart from Mr. Enk, exercise physiology is one of my favorite electives I’ve taken in my time at St. X.
“Exercise Physiology is a beneficial course for someone who’s career interest is in Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Personal Training, Strength Coaching, and more,” Enk explained. “This course is a good introduction of the material that would be taught through the college curriculum for those programs.”
I originally signed up to take the class because I had an interest in potentially majoring in exercise science in college. I’ve definitely learned the material needed to get an extra step in college if I chose to become an exercise physiology major.
My favorite part of the class was being able to learn by doing certain exercises in the weight room and which muscle group they target. The best part about this class, if you don’t want to become an exercise science major or do something in that field, is the knowledge you learn will help you make your own workout plans for your own personal needs.

I highly recommend taking exercise physiology. Mr. Enk is a great teacher who will not only teach you the required material but valuable life lessons. If you’re in between electives to take next year, put exercise physiology on the list.
