Why You Should Travel Abroad

Group of St. X students in Spain (Mr. Stuber )

If international trips interest you, Mr. Bader is having a meeting about a trip to the British Isles on Tuesday Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the Borders Commons. I encourage all to attend this once and a lifetime opportunity.

Having gone on the Spain trip with St. X last summer, I have plenty of reasons why you should travel abroad. It’s a new experience with different cultures and food. Not only do you get that, but you get to make these memories with your brothers at St. X. Last summer, I was honestly quite nervous. I thought that it was going to be all educational and very little fun. That thought was quickly changed when I learned that most of the trip would be exploring the cities in my own free time with my own freedom.

Of course we would be going on tours, but every day we had about five-to-six hours of time where we could do whatever we wanted. We explored the markets of Barcelona and built sandcastles on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. I was able to see the different cultures of Spain through my own eyes and in my own way. I was not the only student to experience the trip; here are some testimonies from other students…

Toledo (Zach Blincoe)

“After going to Spain last year with St. X, I’d highly recommend it to everyone,” Alex Frazier said. “It’s a cultural experience unlike anything I’ve ever done before. I really got to know some pretty awesome people I’d never met before the trip and we all bonded over the experiences we had together as we traveled Spain. We explored Las Ramblas in Barcelona, downtown Madrid and Granada, and the southern coast of Spain. 10/10, would recommend to all.”

Patio de Comares o de los Arryanes (Zach Blincoe)

“School trips make international travel better because being able to live once in a lifetimes experiences with the fellas makes them far more special,” Davis Nichols said. “It also gives you a level of freedom that you wouldn’t have without your brothers with you. Designed tours are awesome, but the memories are made in exploring with your friends.”

Segovia Spain (Zach Blincoe)

“I lived abroad in Belgium when I was younger and it opened my eyes,” Reece Mozzali said. “My trip over the summer was the first time I went back to Europe since I moved back twelve years ago. I loved every second of Spain, especially since I was able to experience it with my friends from St. X. I look forward to go back to Europe or another part of the world some day.”
