It doesn’t take much planning or effort. No field, no gear, no teams to sort out. Just something small enough to fit in your pocket and a few buddies willing to stand in a circle. You don’t need to be good. Missing is part of it, someone drops it, someone else picks it up, and it keeps going.
My parents would recognize it right away. Same loose circle, same mix of focus and messing around. Different shoes, different music in the background but the same thing happening in the middle. It doesn’t really matter when you grew up. You just step in, find your touch, and keep it moving.
The revival of Hacky Sack is so much more than people kicking around a ball. It’s about generations coming together and taking time away from our screens to spend time with the people we care about.
