Since leaving St. X to pursue his professional career in soccer, Brandon Dayes has been playing for Louisville City in the USL Championship League. With the USL Championship season beginning soon, Dayes looks forward to his second season after he competed on a USL Academy contract during 2025.
Work Ethic & Mentality
Making it to the pro-level is always a case of a player’s hard work and dedication to their respective sport. Brandon Dayes is not an exception. He finds himself going over film and studying the game of soccer more than anything else. His approach and mentality is another thing that sets him apart. He has a good understanding of how he can continue to succeed in and off the field.
“It’s just how I respond,” Dayes articulated. “There’s gonna be a lot of ups and downs. It’s not going to be a perfect pathway.”
League Growth & Lou City
Louisville City—one of the best clubs in the USL Championship League—has a chance to be promoted when the USL adds promotion and relegation this upcoming season. The club has had the best regular season record in the USL Championship League two times in a row and has been a strong, winning program under Head Coach Danny Cruz.
“I think (promotion & relegation) is a big, big positive for the league. It’ll help us compete with other US Soccer leagues like MLS,” Dayes noted. “That would be great for the city, great for the club, great for the organization.”
Team Culture and Brotherhood
Dayes has praised the Louisville City staff numerous times for how they have made the environment and team culture so great. Not only does a winning culture make the team better, but the players find it even more meaningful and special.
“It’s just a brotherhood that’s really special within the group. These guys go through film with me all the time, helping me become a better player,” Dayes illustrated.
Goals & Future
Brandon Dayes is already exceeding expectations for a seventeen year old soccer player, but he’s not ready to settle down any time soon. As he continues to grow into a great defender, Dayes hopes to eventually play in Europe. He looks forward to the season ahead and can’t wait to win even more.
“The main goal for me is to go to Europe when I’m 18,” Dayes added. “You never know what could happen, but that’s my goal and that’s what I’m striving for. The thing I’m most looking forward to this season is winning some trophies, having fun. The main thing for me is having fun. That’s the reason I play it and the reason I love it.”
