St. X Students Fundraise for Cancer

The Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a fundraising organization that raises money to help end blood cancer. From Jan. 31–March 22, students from schools across the Louisville area try to raise as much money as possible. These students learn how to be a leader within their community and what they do can make a huge difference in the world. There are many teams, but they are all in the pursuit of ending blood cancer.

Students from St. X, Sacred Heart, Assumption, Trinity, CAL and Collegiate all participate in a 51 day competition to raise the most amount of money for their given teams. Throughout this period, these students lead different events individually or as a group. The participating students take the initiative to help their team win.

One of the teams that St. X students are involved in is team “ALC for LLS”. Leaders of this team include Lilah Kristofek, Anne Marie Martin, and Charlotte Ridge. Once the competition started, they learned how much of a difference they can make in the world and how the people around them are influenced by their fundraising efforts.

“A lot of people in my life have been affected by cancer and I felt I owed it to them and their families to do as much as I can to find a cure for the future generations,” leader Charlotte Ridge said.

The other team that St. X students are involved in is named “Unified Through Christ”. It is led by juniors Lyles Forest and Logan Zoeller who were chosen by other St. X students. They both felt a calling to lead a group.

“I believe there’s nothing better in this world to do than give back,” Forrest said. “We must each understand what these individuals are fighting on a day-to-day basis.”

Although there are many teams, they understand that while they may be competing, they are raising money for the same cause. The fight that cancer patients go through is terrible and painful; to donate to either group is to save many lives in the future.

You can help by donating to either of these groups by following their Instagram pages at @alc.for.lls and @unified_through_christ. If you would like to donate to team ALC for LLS, click this link. To donate to team Unified Through Christ, click this link.
