Healthiest Lunchroom Items

We are a month and a half into 2024 and spring break is right around the corner. There are many options in the lunchroom: some healthy and others not so much. Here are a couple of options I recommend to lose fat and build muscle.

Grilled Chicken (no bun)

(Trevor Schubert)

The most simple but also one of the healthiest items. At first thought it may sound pretty bland, but you can put some hot sauce on top of the chicken or dip it in your choice of sauce. It is said to be a 5-ounce chicken breast which comes in around 120 calories and 25 grams of protein.

Chicken Rice Bowl

(Trevor Schubert)

This is a flexible item because you can put all the toppings on it that you want. After all, they are low-calorie and wouldn’t affect your day calorie-wise (just watch your queso consumption). Included in the bowl is a cup of brown rice and four ounces of shredded chicken. You then have the option to add beans, queso, or a variety of colorful toppings. This comes in at around 340 calories and roughly 23 grams of protein.

Chicken Quesadilla

(Trevor Schubert)

A staple in the Mexican line. Quesadilla is always quality and consistent. There is nothing like biting into a slightly crispy ‘dilla dipped in some queso. This comes in around 360 calories with 31 grams of protein.

Grilled Chicken Wrap

(Trevor Schubert)

This is one of my personal favorites and something I like to treat myself to on Fridays. The one setback is the line, which is almost always out the door; however, it is worth the wait. You can put any topping you want on this as well. Just watch your sauce usage some of the sauces like ranch and southwest can get high in calories. This one comes in at 388 calories with 29 grams of protein.

All of these are really good options to look your best when it comes to beach time. The key is consistency. Stack a brick every day and build a house.
