St. X Swim and Dive just had their 38th consecutive win in the Kentucky State Championship. They are no doubt the best team in the state and a top-five team contender in the entire country. Led by head coach Todd Larkin, this St. X team was unstoppable this year in the 2025-2026 State Championship. There was, however, a specific grade that showed unbelievable fight and really had a huge impact on the team’s monster victory. The Class of 2028 (sophomore class) had a number of swimmers that won events and scored a lot of points that led to the team’s victory.
The first sophomore star in the state meet was Wilson York. Wilson is a sophomore swimmer who swims at his travel club, Lakeside. While at Lakeside, Wilson has set multiple records, including the boys 13-14 world record for the 200m breaststroke at 2:15.11 in 2024. He swam the 200-meter IM and also the 100-meter breaststroke at the 2026 state championship meet, coming first and setting personal-best times in both events. Also a bring-back member in the 200-meter medley relay, putting the Tigers back in the lead of the race and winning first in that event.
Coming in next as a sophomore star that really stepped up at this year’s state meet was Bishop DeZarn. Bishop is the definition of fast when you think about swimming. Bishop swam the 50-meter freestyle for the Tigers and also did the 200 medley relay swimming free and the 200 free relay as an anchor. In both relays his speed really showed, as the young sophomore went an unbelievable time of 20.3 seconds in the medley and 20.5 seconds in the free relay.
Some other big-factor swimmers for the Tigers were Quinn Motor, Blaise Harrison, and Jackson Logsdon. These swimmers came in clutch for the 200 freestyle swum by Blaise and the 100 back swum by both Quinn and Jackson. Each of these sophomore stars helped score major points for the team and really helped secure the Tigers’ 38th straight state championship.
The St. X Swim and Dive team is no doubt the best team in the state of Kentucky and one of the top five teams in the country. With these stars on their team so young, that means there will be more wins and state championships in the future. The Tigers look unstoppable and will be super strong going for No. 39 next year.
