It’s official, the Tigers have let the whole country know that St. Xavier Hoops is here not only to compete, but to win on the national stage.
The Tigers, the No. 1 team in Kentucky, hosted the 2025 Made Hoops Main Event over the past weekend, showcasing elite talent from all over the country.
On Saturday the 13th, St. X played No. 9 nationally ranked Spire Academy (Geneva, OH) in our very own Wills Gymnasium. Spire’s roster had consisted of multiple 5-Star, 4-Star, and 3-Star recruits and battled the top team in the bluegrass to the finish.
This sold out crowd, and Christmas spirit filled RageCage rocked the gym and kept an electric atmosphere for the whole game. The Tigers fell 83-61 in a game that was high paced from the start, and left less than 24 hours for the X-Men to recuperate to face another well than worthy opponent.
Sunday the 14th, the Green and Gold took on No.11 nationally ranked Tennessee Collegiate Academy (Memphis, TN) who less than 2 weeks ago defeated previously ranked No. 1 Prolific Prep at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and did not look back, upsetting the Spartans 76-74 without surrendering their advantage the entirety of the game.
Senior guard Chief Cameron’s 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists earned him MVP honors for the game after his stellar performance. Sophomore 4-Star Josh Lindsay also added 21 points to the box score including an incredible one-handed slam late in the 3rd quarter off the pass from senior Connor Klein.
If we learned anything from this weekend it’s that the Tigers have something SPECIAL brewing on Poplar Level. Their record now sits at 3-1 as they face district opponent Collegiate at 6 p.m. tonight at home. This is their next step towards defending the King of the Bluegrass tournament starting this Thursday, and continuing their quest to be the last team standing in Lexington.
