On Friday Sept. 12, the Lumen Theatre Company will debut at St. Xavier High School with their play The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood.
“The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood is guaranteed to be the most ridiculous and surprising version of the classic literary tale that you have ever seen,” Mrs. Stewart said.
The play is packed with corny, yet hilarious jokes and puns as wild pop culture references. While being family friendly, the play is very much in the vein of the classic film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”.
This marks the first show with the school’s new director, Emily Stewart, and the department’s new name, the Lumen Theatre Company (LTC). The LTC comes from “Numen Lumen” which means God is our Light.
“In theatre, in our Xaverian values, and in our lives, it is always our mission to bring light to our community, and we at the Lumen Theatre Company will strive to do that for ourselves, for each other, and for our audiences,” Mrs. Stewart said.
Aug. 13 to Sept. 13, thirty total days, that’s all the time that they had to put this production together. That is unheard of in theatre. However, everyone from the actors, the tech crew, the set construction team, as well as parent volunteers, have all come together to make an incredible show.
This play will consist of students from St. X, Assumption, Atherton, and Manual.
