Once upon a time, in a school on Poplar Level Road, there was a boy named Miller. Miller loved cookies more than anything in the world. Every day at lunch, he would rush to the cafeteria, hoping to grab his favorite treat—a warm, chocolate chip Jumbo cookie.
One rainy afternoon, Miller was especially excited. He had saved his allowance all week to buy a jumbo cookie from Flik, which was known for making the most delicious treats. As soon as the bell rang for lunch, he dashed down the hallway, weaving through students, his heart racing with anticipation.
But when Miller arrived for lunch, he froze. There, standing in front of him, was his classmate, Lou, holding the very last jumbo cookie.
“No!” Miller gasped. “That was supposed to be mine!”
Lou was startled by Miller’s disappointment.
“Sorry, Miller. I didn’t know you wanted it,” Lou said, looking at the cookie in his hand.
Miller’s face turned red with frustration. It wasn’t fair! He had been dreaming about that cookie all day.
Seeing Miller’s sadness, Lou thought for a moment. Then, with a small smile, he broke the cookie in half and held out a piece. “Here, we can share.”
Miller hesitated. He had been so focused on getting what he wanted that he hadn’t considered another possibility. Slowly, he took the half-cookie and smiled. “Thanks, Lou. I was so upset, I didn’t even think about sharing.”
As they sat together and enjoyed their snack, Miller realized something important—brotherhood is far sweeter than any cookie.
From that day on, whenever there was only one cookie left, Miller would offer to split it, just like Lou had done for him.
And so, he learned that sharing not only made others happy, but it made his heart feel full, too.
The End.
