Top 5 “Small Font” Artists at Bourbon & Beyond
Genre: Folk/Americana
Best Songs: Rodeo, Killing Ground, Wicked Game
The Futurebirds are probably the most fun band on this list. They are a more rock-forward band with country roots. This and their vocalist, Carter King, make for an awesome sound. I sure am extremely intrigued and excited to see what they sound like and what kind of show they put on at B&B.
Genre: Indie Folk
Best Songs: Virginia (Wind In The Night), Down in the Valley, Let’s Be Still
The Head and the Heart has the most chill vibe out of the other artists/bands on this list. They are a great opportunity amidst the chaos of festivals, to sit back, unwind, and just be in the moment. The album cover of their album “Let’s Be Still” is a great depiction of the way their music makes you feel. This band is like a nice cool breeze during a hot summer day.
Genre: Alternative Rock
Best Songs: Pillars, In Circles, Two Promises
This is a band that I have only recently gotten into. They have a very cool semi-hard rock sound that is actually really soothing. If I know one thing, it is that they will put on an awesome show. Their music is carried by their aggressive use of the electric guitar. Sunny Day Real Estate is a band that will always have you in awe after listening to just one song of theirs. They are often compared to Radiohead, but I feel they might just be the decaf Radiohead (in the best way possible).
Genre: Americana/Country
Best songs: Another Leaf, Hardwood Floors, Jesse
Charles Wesley Godwin is easily the most popular artist on this list as an effect of his friendship with Zach Bryan and his most recent tour. He posts a huge number of monthly listeners at 1.6M. Although he has significantly jumped in popularity in the past year or so, there are a lot of “deep cuts” in his discography that I feel go way under-appreciated. CWG puts on awesome shows at his concerts with epic solos from his respective band members. Definitely a must see act for a country music fan.
Genre: Indie Folk
Best Songs: White Winter Hymnal, Ragged Wood, Helplessness Blues
Oh man, when I saw the Bourbon & Beyond lineup for the first time, I lost my mind when I saw Fleet Foxes on the list. They are one of my favorite indie rock bands of all time. Their sound is near perfect to me. Their discography is close to spotless and I never really thought that they would be the type of band to play at music festivals. But I was very pleasantly surprised. They’re a bucket list concert for me and I think after you get a taste of their music, you might feel the same.
