When it comes to who is the most underrated in Kentucky high school football, one of the first names that comes to mind is Jaxon Panariello.

The Tigers star outside linebacker recently committed to the University of Louisville thus ending his surprisingly long recruitment process. Overlooked by many, he finally got the recognition he deserved.

Having dealt with injuries over the course of his career, Panariello still imposed his will on the opposing offenses across the state of Kentucky. Now that his time as a high school football player is over, he is relieved to have his recruitment period behind him.

“It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Panariello said. “I can start to focus on just Louisville now.”

The senior finished second in tackles and sacks for the Tigers behind his teammate Micah Carter who is also committed to the University of Louisville. Panariello finished as part of the first-team all-state defense in Kentucky. As a junior, he played a key part in winning the KHSAA State Championship, which was the Tigers’ first state championship in more than ten years.

Throughout his time at St. X, Panariello seemed to always come up in the big moments when the Tigers need him the most. When St. X needed a stop on defense, Panariello would come up and make the stop for the Tigers. Cardinals fans can expect a lot of the same from Panariello over the course of his collegiate career.

“Louisville fans can expect someone determined to win every game and see progression in myself getting better,” Panariello said.

The Cardinals recently have just hired Jeff Brohm as their new head coach. The fans are hoping he brings a new fresh start to bring the Cardinals back to glory. Panariello’s dominant force on the outside will really help the Cardinals defense.

“Coach Brohm is a great person off the field and I’m excited to get to play for him,” Panariello said.

The St. X family is proud that Panariello finally received the recognition he deserved.
