Sport analysts have been making claims and predictions that are controversial for decades. Some of their opinions are spot on, while others are completely insane and a ten year old with the slightest ball knowledge would disagree with. Some of these NBA takes will make a person question if Colin Cowherd has ever watched an NBA game.
5. “Shaq is what, the fifth best center in the history of the NBA, IF!”
Mad Dog Russo believes that there are at least five centers in the history of the NBA that are better than Shaquille O’Neal, arguably the most dominant center the league has ever witnessed. Russo argues that Wilt Chamberlain, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are all better players than Shaq. Stephen A. Smith and Jay Williams are completely astonished by this take and believe that Shaq is a better player than all of them. Shaq was so unstoppable that the NBA created the “Hack-a-Shaq” rule because of him. If Shaq even stepped foot in the paint, players would automatically foul him to make him shoot free throws. Sadly, Shaq wasn’t the best free throw shooter.
4. “I got Bill Walton”
Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe are debating over whether or not Stephen Curry is a top ten player of all time. Skip believes that Steph is nowhere close to top ten and hasn’t done nearly enough to earn this title. Skip says that Steph isn’t even in the top 20 and has Hakeem Olajuwon, Oscar Robertson, Dr. J, David Robinson, Karl Malone, Bill Walton, Dirk Nowitzki, Jerry West, and James Harden all ranked above him. Sharpe can’t believe what he is hearing and doesn’t agree that a single one of those players are better than Steph. Now, this clip was taken over four years ago today, so hopefully Skip Bayless has come to his senses and put Steph Curry, the best shooter to ever touch a basketball, in his top ten.
3. “Of everyone on Golden State, open shot, fate of the universe on the line where the martians have the death beam pointed at Earth, you better hit it, I want Iguadala.”
Max Kellerman was asked who he wants taking a game winning shot between Andre Iguodala and Stephen Curry. With no hesitation whatsoever, Kellerman picked Iguodala over Curry. Keep in mind that Kellerman said this with Curry in his prime. Curry had just won MVP in 2015 and 2016 along with championship rings in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Iguodala was a pretty good shooter and shot 33% from three in his career, but is nowhere close to Curry. If there were really Martians with a death beam pointed at Earth, Kellerman may have just risked everyone’s lives with this drastic pick
2. “In my hay day he would need help!!!”
Lavar Ball truly believes that he beat Micheal Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time, in a one on one game of basketball. Lavar states that Jordan is too small and only has a big name. He says that Jordan is a better five on five player than him, but not a better one on one player. According to himself, he has never lost a one on one basketball game. Stephen A. Smith states that what Lavar Ball is saying is “blasphemy.” Any sane “ball knower” would know that Michael Jordan would beat Lavar Ball with no effort at all.
1. “Hey LeBron, Ben Simmons is here. We’re all good.”
Seven years ago, Colin Cowherd had an epiphany and made one of the worst predictions in NBA history. He was almost certain that the NBA no longer needed LeBron James, one of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball, arguably the greatest. Cowherd says he would rather watch Ben Simmons play and believes that Simmons will be the next LeBron. Cowherd couldn’t have been more wrong. LeBron goes on to dominate the league as he usually does, while Simmons falls off the face of the earth and is forgotten.
