After Kentucky’s tough overtime loss to #21 Texas after getting stopped three times, six inches away from the goal line with some very questionable play calling. The noise with dark stoops that was already beginning to loud grew even louder. The Wildcats doubled the Longhorns in passing yards and rushing yards and had three times the number of first downs, yet they still lost for the same reasons as always.
Kentucky hasn’t won an SEC home game since 2023. It’s been three seasons since their last home win and fans are tired. Cutter Boley and the team played an amazing game and put it all on the line, but the playcalling and coaching cost them the game again.
In Mark Stoops’ press conference on Saturday, he sounded defeated. You can tell that his time is running out, and that he is done. Mark Stoops was booed going to the locker room, and it’s time for the Mark Stoops era in Lexington to be over.
There are questions about who should be the UK’s next coach and the person I want for the job is Will Stein. Will Stein grew up a diehard Kentucky fan, but went to Louisville. Despite playing quarterback at Louisville, it has been reported that there is mutual interest between Stein and Kentucky and that he wants to come to Kentucky.
I think Will Stein will understand the assignment being a UK kid, and he will be able to get us to where they need to be as a program. As I mentioned earlier, Kentucky’s offense has been really poor throughout the entire year. This is where Stein can also help in a major way, because Stein is an offensive-minded coach. Stein’s offense had 700 total yards last Saturday against Rutgers, which is insane. Will Stein has had Oregon in the highest rated offense every single season.
The other thing about Stein’s offense is that it’s not just super productive, but Stein’s offense is also very adaptable. Stein can do it all, whether it’s slicing defenses apart with quick passes or pounding the run behind a disciplined offensive line. He has proved that his system makes players perform better and more efficiently. That blend of structure and creativity makes Stein one of the nation’s most promising offensive minds and Stein could make him the perfect fit to inject life into Kentucky’s program.
Stein has super productive offenses, but not only that, Stein also has been super successful in developing quarterbacks. When you look at Bo Nix, he was an Auburn outcast and in Steins he was developed into a first round draft pick and a Heisman contender. Stein didn’t only do this once, he also did it with Dillon Gabriel, who was a Heisman contender in Stein’s offense. I think Stein can develop Cutter Boley into an excellent player that can get drafted into the NFL.
This is why Will Stein is the guy for Kentucky and why he should be their next head coach.
