There are many people on the St. X football team and some do not get the same amount of attention and recognition as others and you may not know who they are.
There are some on both sides of the ball. Some stand out from the rest on the defensive like Te’are Wilson-Towns (T-Man) and Jackson Singleton.
Singleton on the other hand has not got a lot of recognition for the work he does on the field on Friday nights and through the week at practice. He gets playing time on Friday nights as a sophomore which is not very common.
Singleton plays behind junior Korey Tutt on the depth chart, but his speed, athleticism, and dedication have already earned him meaningful playing time under the lights. Beyond game days, his role during practices has been invaluable.
Junior defensive lineman Will Stuart, a two year varsity player, had some things to say about Singleton as a teammate.
“Singleton lightens the mood during practice,” Stuart said. “But he doesn’t just bring energy—he can flip a switch and push himself and everyone around him to get better.”
That mindset has made Singleton a key part of the scout team, where he pushes the starters and sharpens the entire defense. Senior linebacker Brennan Garr, one of the team’s defensive leaders, praised Singleton’s work ethic.
“Kid brings the juice,” Garr said. “He’s always going hard, trying to make all of us better, even though he’s only a sophomore. He’s got a bright future, and I can’t wait to see what he does next.”
If Singleton continues to develop with the same intensity, his potential to become a standout player for St. X is undeniable.
On the offensive side of the ball, another sophomore is quietly making his mark: tight end Oliver Kukla. Though he plays behind senior veteran Karsten Busch, Kukla has earned significant reps on Friday nights and works tirelessly during the week to improve.
Senior quarterback Mason Trimble, a two-year starter, sees plenty of upside in his younger teammate.
“Kukla’s got great size and strength,” Trimble said. “He’s good now, but if he keeps working, he could be really special.”

Kukla not only contributes in games but also helps elevate his position group during practice by giving strong looks on scout teams. His effort benefits both himself and the tight ends around him.
Together, Singleton and Kukla represent the promising foundation of underclassmen at St. X. Players who may not yet be known names, but are already shaping the program’s future. Their drive and commitment ensure that the culture, competitiveness, and success of the team will continue for years to come.
