Athletic trainers are hard to come by at the high school level, let alone an elite trio like St. X. Led by KATS hall of famer, Danny McDonald, allows certified trainers like Evelyn Tandy and Ben Enk to learn from over twenty years of experience.

St. X has about 1,200 students and 75% of those are student-athletes. This is a large number of athletes coming into the training room every day to get treatment, advice, or maybe to get their ankle taped for no good reason.
Evelyn Tandy is also a certified athletic trainer who has been at St. X for six years. She is well known for her creation of the venue specific emergency action plan, which gained national recognition. The plan has outstanding detail and information that allows people to be ready for anything that happens during a sporting event or practice.
Assistant Ben Enk, hired from Wisconsin, has been a tremendous help since he started just a year ago. He is a fan favorite among all the athletes at St. X and even at his previous school, North Oldham.
“With the addition of Ben to our team, we are able to more efficiently manage the sports medicine department and provide better care for the student-athletes,” Tandy said. “Whether that’s adding a certification, teaching a class, or learning a new process. Ben has been practicing athletic training for over six years and his experiences and knowledge have been helpful in building our team”.
Overall the athletic trainers here at St. X have been exceptional. More and more athletes everyday see how rare it is for a high school to have three full time trainers.
“Having three trainers is big-time, really helps all the athletes get healthy fast,” St. X quarterback Mason Trimble said. “I think that’s one of the most underrated aspects of our sports programs. I love walking in the training room and seeing my boy Ben Enk”.

They deserve constant appreciation from St. X and the community for their hard work because they help from a varsity football game, to an early track meet at 7 A.M. St. X can always count on them.
