Junior Will Stewart, better known on social media as Snapped by Stew, has spent much of his St. X career both in front of and behind the camera.

Originally from Memphis, Stewart moved to Louisville in first grade and attended Holy Trinity with his brother Jack. When it came time for high school, he chose the brotherhood of St. X over rival Trinity. Outside of the brotherhood, it was the opportunities that led him to becoming a Tiger.
Stewart discovered photography during the second semester of his freshman year in 2024. One iconic image pushed him to pick up a camera.
“Seeing the picture of Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston, and the emotion that Ali had in the picture, made it come alive,” Stewart said.
He also found inspiration by seeing some upperclassmen pave the way at St. X.
“Seeing William Lewis and his work inspired a lot of creativity, and same goes with [Jack] Bates — they both did a lot for the school and its athletics,” he explained. “Another person who inspired me is Evan Farrell. He is a photographer for Ole Miss and his work is beautiful. I love how he captures a story in a single picture.”
Stewart continues to refine his craft and aims to reach new levels. According to Stewart, he plans on improving his gear and getting to those higher levels like college and even professional. While photography fuels his creativity, Stewart is just as committed to the physical side of sports. A defensive lineman, he has played football all three years of high school.
“I’ve always loved playing football since I was young, and I would rather experience the game than capture it,” he said.
Football isn’t the only sport he photographs. “My favorite sport to shoot is lacrosse because it’s the one I shoot the most, but it’s super fast paced and nobody is standing around,” Stewart noted.
From the gridiron to the sidelines, Stewart is proving he’s more than a one-trick pony. He’s an athlete and an artist, capturing St. X athletics one frame at a time.
