St. X, coming off a dominant first win last week, looking to stack good days and gain momentum. Tigers are confident but look to make a statement down in Bowling Green for themselves, and Coach Wallace.
“I spent the initial 57 years of my life in Bowling Green,” Wallace said. “Much of my family, most of my closest friends, and most of the people I know, are there. The success that I enjoyed was shared with great players, outstanding coaches, and dedicated community supporters. Without the tremendous success at BGHS, I would never have been able to move my career forward at St. X.”

Coach Kevin Wallace and the Tigers look to build off of last week’s blowout win against Owensboro. This week presents a new challenge that the Tigers are familiar with. The Bowling Green Purples have consistently been one of the top teams in 5A.
Bowling Green has loads of talent but graduated their previous four year starting quarterback. The Purples will introduce a transfer from Fredrick Douglas to start this Friday.
They have a big offensive line with one returning senior. Their main threat is their skill guys, well known for their fast, twitchy receivers. This could potentially pose a threat to the Tiger’s physical run-stopping defense.
On the other side of the ball, St. X with a variety of talent and speed on both sides of the ball. The St. X offensive line, led by Jack Barker and Conor Dwyer, helped drive the ball well last week and they look forward to facing Bowling Green’s front seven.
The leading force for the St. X offense, Mason Trimble and Marlon Harbin, were dynamic through the air and on the ground last week. They are hoping to continue their control in both phases of the game. The Tiger defense, led by Karsten Busch and Brennan Garr, will continue to dominate up front and be more physical than the Purple’s offense.
Other than the tough challenge it is, this could be an emotion filled game for Coach Wallace’s last season to return back to the school where he won six state championships. The Tigers know what this game means to him and aside from all the love Wallace has for the program, he knows he has a job to do.
“I am not sure I have time to get caught up in the emotions of a last trip to BG or the fact that it is my last season. The emotions that are created by those facts are not productive in helping me prepare our team for the challenges we face every Friday. The 2024 loss to BGHS was disappointing and not reflective of the quality people in our program. It is my hope that we will exhibit a “Something To Prove” mentality as we prepare each week. Certainly, this week carries a bit more emotion for me. But, it is important that our program exhibits energy and effort every week, even if there are no special occasions to do so!”
