The Tigers begin their quest for their 16th state championship against 5A powerhouse Owensboro at Brother Thomas More Page Stadium on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Green Out!
After a gritty 7-5 record last year, this senior-led squad is coming into the season with something to prove. As head coach Kevin Wallace heads into his last season with the Tigers, the stakes could not be higher.
“The key to our success will be a daily investment that every player makes to upgrade their level of energy, effort and execution,” Wallace said. “The product of that daily investment will impact our team in a positive way on Friday nights.”

The senior Louisville-commit duo of Karsten Busch and Marlon Harbin will be critical factors on both sides of the ball this fall, with both earning First Team All-State honors last season.
Harbin was also named the Courier Journal Preseason Player of the Year after tallying 18 touchdowns and more than 1,300 yards from scrimmage in 2024. The offense also returns a major piece in quarterback Mason Trimble as he prepares for his second season as the starter.
Two other seniors poised for breakout seasons are defensive lineman Brennan Garr and wide receiver Lucas Shelton.
“I think my leadership role this year has been stronger and more impactful than I’ve ever been,” Garr said. “Maybe because it is my senior year or maybe because of how bad I want the team to exceed the expectations we were given due to last year’s ending.”
Shelton, coming off a solid junior campaign in which he racked up a little over 500 yards receiving and added a touchdown, is ready for his breakout year.

“One goal I have for myself this season is to catch at least five touchdowns and record more than 700 yards receiving,” Shelton said. “Another goal is being a better leader. We have a lot of young guys that are watching my every move and I want to set a good example for them.”
Both Garr and Shelton shared a common theme: the team is hungry for a state championship. That desire isn’t just for the players, but also for Coach Wallace.
“I think we owe it to him and each other to be the very best we can be every single week,” Garr added.
As the football team begins the journey to Kroger Field, remember: their job is to ball out on the field, and ours is to pack the Rage Cage and support them. So everybody, freshmen through seniors, get to the Cage!
Again … it’s a Green Out!
