Marvel Rivals is the latest hero shooter video game that has really made a name for itself. The game has captivated many players due to its fun gameplay and fast-paced matches, as well that its based on the marvel universe, so it’s brought in many of those fans as well. Another thing that players and fans alike have really enjoyed are the skins for the playable characters. A lot of the original designs for the characters are very good, but not for everyone, so these alternate skins have really been great for people who want to play in a design for a character that they prefer. In this article, I will be ranking what I personally think are the ten best alternate skins in the game.
Joe’s Ranking
MVP Shot for Mantis’ Guardians Three Skin.
Honorable Mention: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Mantis)
The skin from Guardians 3 is a great alternative skin, but it’s held back from the fact that it’s not unique to Mantis, as Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon also have skins from Guardians 3 and they look identical to hers. I also just think some of the other skins Rivals has to offer for the other characters are just better. Despite that, it’s still a good skin, and I wanted to mention it because Mantis is one of my favorite characters to play as.
The Golden Moonlight Skin for Moon Knight.
#10: Golden Moonlight (Moon Knight)
This may just be a recolor (and the only recolor on this list) of the default Moon Knight skin, but it’s a really good recolor. Black and Gold is a great color combo, and it looks great on Moon Knight’s skin in Rivals. It’s number ten because it’s not very “Moon Knight,” for lack of better words, and as Moon Knight even says: he wears white because he wants the enemy to see him, so camouflage is stupid for him. Still a great skin.
MVP Shot for Black Panther’s Galactic Claw Skin.
#9: Galactic Claw (Black Panther)
This is an original design for Marvel Rivals. I think this design is pretty cool. It looks like armor that will keep T’challa well-protected, but also looks very light and movable, which is important for Black Panther because he needs to be swift. It also looks very royal, which is fitting for a king. Overall, this design is quite good if I do say so myself.
MVP Shot for Hawkeye’s Freefall Skin.
#8: Freefall (Hawkeye)
Hawkeye’s default design in Rivals is… interesting. In his lore, it’s stated that Clint kept some elements of his Ronin persona and integrated that into his identity as Hawkeye. It’s not a terrible design, but it’s not the greatest. So, this skin here is the classic Hawkeye look from the comics, and it looks amazing. It just has everything you think of when you think of Hawkeye. It’s a great alternate skin for people who want a more traditional look for Hawkeye.
MVP Shot for Captain America’s Infinity War Skin.
#7: Avengers: Infinity War (Captain America)
Rivals offers a lot of skins that are based on the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe of Movies, and one of those skins is Cap’s design from Avengers Infinity War. Obviously, Cap looks a bit different, with the beard and how his suit looks a little more dirty. The biggest difference here is that Cap doesn’t have his iconic shield, but instead, has these Wakandian gauntlets. The left one specifically is what functions as the shield in gameplay. I honestly really liked this look for Cap in the movie, so I was happy to see it added to Rivals.
Thor’s Reborn From Ragnarok Skin.
#6: Reborn From Ragnarok (Thor)
Thor’s base design does look good, but to me, it just felt a bit off. The Reborn From Ragnarok skin looks so much better in my opinion. Like Hawkeye’s Freefall skin, Reborn From Ragnarok is basically just a classic Thor skin, which I am not complaining about. It’s even got a cape, which is something that is strangely missing from the default design. Overall, this is a great skin for the God of Thunder.
MVP Shot for Jeff’s Incognito Dolphin Skin.
#5: Incognito Dolphin (Jeff the Land Shark)
Jeff the Land Shark has easily won the contest for being the most adorable character in Marvel Rivals, and his Incognito Dolphin skin makes him even more adorable. In the comics, Jeff dons this costume so he can have fun on the beach without scaring the other beach goers. This is a good skin to wear for Jeff so he can look cute on the battlefield while he terrorizes his enemies with his ultimate ability.
MVP Shot for Psylocke’s Vengeance Skin.
#4: Vengeance (Psylocke)
Now, I’m someone who really likes the default design for Psylocke in the game. I just like how assassin-like it looks. However, I can’t deny that the Vengeance skin looks great. It’s once again a more classic look for the character, and you can’t beat a classic. The purple is very vibrant and Sai’s hair is unique for this skin because most of her other skins have her hair up in some way while this one has it down. There’s not much else I can say other than that it’s a great looking skin.
MVP Shot for Wolverine’s DP&W Skin.
#3: Deadpool and Wolverine (Wolverine)
I’m going to be honest: Wolverine’s default design in the game doesn’t look that good. It just looks like a guy wearing Wolverine merchandise. Fortunately, Rivals offers Logan’s suit from the movie Deadpool and Wolverine to actually make it look it’s Wolverine you’re playing as. The iconic yellow and blue suit is translated excellently into the game’s art style and makes as great choice to wear when playing as the most popular X-man.
MVP Shot for Iron Man’s Endgame Skin.
#2: Avengers: Endgame (Iron Man)
Iron Man has had a multitude of armors over the course of his existence as a character. Marvel Rivals has plenty of options to offer, but the best of them has to be the Mark 85 from Avengers Endgame. The red and gold colors just mesh really well with each other and the helmet is fantastic. Obviously, you can’t look at this suit and not think of Tony’s big sacrifice, and the MVP animation pays great homage to that moment. It’s slick design and its significance in the MCU makes it one of the best skins in Rivals.
The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Skin for Spider-Man.
#1: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (Spider-Man)
As someone who’s a big Spider-Man fan and who really enjoyed the Spider-Man 2 game, this skin for Spidey is my favorite. The colors and design of the Advanced Suit 2.0 look spectacular in this game. What makes this even better is that Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor for Spider-Man in this game, also voices him in the games this suit is based on, so it really feels like you’re actually playing as this version of the Web-head. Of course, that depends on how good you are at playing as the character. It’s for these reasons why this skin at number one.
