A few months ago, I published an article that highlighted the Sacred Heart Worship Night held on Jan. 30. Sacred Heart has now hosted two of these events, and both turned out very successful with good student turnout from various schools around the Archdiocese. Following these two great successes, the student leaders at Sacred Heart aim to host another Worship Night that will be bigger and better.
However, this upcoming event will be very different, and due to it’s occurrence in Lent, it will be largely centered around the Stations of the Cross. The night will begin with adoration and then will move right in to the Stations. In order to made it more intricate than previously seen, the Sacred Heart leaders reached out to members of other schools like Assumption, Mercy, Trinity, and St. X to assist in leading the stations. I myself will be one of these leaders, as well as some other students from St. X: Benjamin Blackford and William Spohn.
This Worship Night will feature more involvement from St. X than before, and in addition to leading a station, William, Ben, and I have been working hard to help in various ways. Because of St. X’s increased involvement, I hope that we will have an even better showing than we did last time. At the last worship night, there were around 7-8 St. X students in attendance, and this time around, there should be even more.
While the stations are a new addition, there will still be familiar aspects like scripture, music, and meditation. The night will conclude just as the others have, with fellowship and food (most likely pizza). Donations will also be collected for the Franciscan Kitchen, so those attending are encouraged to bring canned goods.
Overall, this event is a great opportunity to grow in your faith with other students our age. It will give you a chance to walk the Stations of the Cross just as Jesus did, but it will also allow for a night socialization between the Catholic high schools. The previous Worship Nights have been fantastic, but this upcoming event may be the best yet, and I highly encourage anyone interested in growing in their faith should attend.
