This past week, beloved teacher and coach Chuck Medley was deservingly inducted into the Catholic Sports Hall of Fame. A graduate of DeSales High School, Medley dedicated three decades to coaching cross-country and track and field at St. X, leaving a coaching legacy that few coaches in Louisville have replicated.
Under his leadership, the cross-country team amassed 10 state championships, four runner-up finishes, and many individual state champions. These impressive feats earned Coach Medley many Coach of the Year honors.
This dominance was also present in the track and field program, where he won three state titles and 25 regional titles across both sports. Beyond his legendary coaching career, Medley is also a great math teacher and has been for 32 years.
Coach Medley’s devotion to developing St. X men on and off the field is nothing short of impressive, and his track record makes him a true role model for Catholic education and athletics.
Coach Medley, the third-winningest coach in St. X history, is truly one of the most sought-after figures in St. X’s illustrious athletic history. His impact on countless young men who have come through St. X will be recognized and never forgotten.
