Senior Chance Dillingham has officially made history at St. X, setting the record for the most three-pointers ever made in the program. A key player since he arrived, Chance has put in serious work to reach this milestone, and he’s beyond grateful for the journey.
“It’s a huge honor to even be in this position,” Chance said. “This school has had so many great shooters, and I never thought I’d be the one to break the record. It all comes down to the countless hours I’ve spent in the gym with my coaches and the time they’ve put into helping me.”
Getting to this point wasn’t easy. Chance has been grinding in the gym for years, constantly working on his shot and pushing himself to get better.
“I’ve worked pretty much my whole life to get to this level,” he said. “Once I got here, I was coming in almost every weekend to get shots up. At one point, I was nervous to keep asking because I felt like I was bothering my coaches and making them waste gas.”
But breaking a record isn’t just about individual success—Chance knows St. X basketball has played a huge role in his growth.
“The program has pushed me to be my best, both as a player and a person,” he said. “The coaches, the competition, and the expectations make you work harder and keep improving. Coach Klein is big on hard work, teamwork, and discipline, and those things are key for being successful in basketball and in life.”
Now, Chance and his teammates are focused on the bigger picture—winning a state championship.
“The team aspect is everything this year,” Chance said. “If we want to win, we all have to buy in. No one is bigger than the team, and nobody has an ego. If we keep trusting each other, communicating, and playing for each other, I really think we can make a deeper run than last year. We definitely don’t want to feel that feeling again.”
