The new Tuesday Morning Bible Study, which starts at 7:15 in the chapel, helps students grow in their understanding of God’s word and engages them in spiritual discussions.
The study will cover 1 John over the course of ten weeks. The first meeting was held in Campus Ministry, and it quickly exceeded expectations with over 30 students in attendance, filling every seat and leaving standing room only. The group now meets in the chapel to accommodate larger numbers.
“We were thinking we would have around ten students for the first one (which would have still been awesome!),” Mr. Nate Stemle, the organizer of the study, said. “It was incredibly powerful and encouraging to see the room be standing room only. There is clearly an appetite for this in our student body and school community.”
While the study starts at 7:15, students can come early for complimentary coffee and donuts across the hall in Mr. Kresse’s room until they run out. According to Stemle, “Who doesn’t get fired up about free donuts?”
Miles Dobson, a senior who played a pivotal role in starting the study, said, “I helped start one on the football team and I helped Coach Stemle start one for the entire school. I did this because during football I had an amazing experience and I wanted to help allow the entire student body to experience God’s word and to further their faith.”
The first session covered 1 John 1:1-10. Mr. Stemle delivered a message and left the group with three takeaways: seek Jesus daily, find faith-filled fellowship, and walk in the light. After the study concluded, students had the opportunity to break into small groups to discuss some reflection questions from Stemle.
All students are encouraged to come and check this out for themselves, no matter where they are in their faith walk.
