This upcoming June, St. X students have the opportunity of a lifetime. In collaboration with EF Tours, Sr. Stuber has organized a 13-day, guide-led immersive journey through Spain. From visiting iconic landmarks to experiencing local traditions and cuisine, every aspect of the trip has been meticulously selected to create an unforgettable adventure. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary chance to make memories that last a lifetime!
This amazing trip will take students through Barcelona, Madrid, Córdoba, Seville, Granada and Costa del Sol. In each location, you can experience Spain’s rich culture, history, and beauty with your fellow St. X brothers. Although not technically sponsored by St. X , this event is chaperoned by St. X teachers.
The assigned tour guide will accompany the group throughout the entire trip, enriching the experience with their expertise and insights to make the journey even more immersive and engaging.
This upcoming trip is not the first that Sr. Stuber has hosted in collaboration with EF Tours. A very similar trip occurred two summers ago, and there were current seniors that had the privilege of attending.
When traveling abroad and immersing oneself in a new culture, the cuisine plays a vital role in the experience. Cam Sherman, in particular, loved the food in Spain. He especially enjoyed the moments eating churros with chocolate alongside his friends.
One of the most unique aspects of this trip to Spain compared to any other is the full-time guide that accompanies the group. This was one of Harris Overton’s favorite aspects of the entire trip.
“What I really give credit to is the structured tour,” Overton stated. “It made the whole trip seamless and allowed us to see the best parts of the country without worrying about logistics. I still have this nostalgic feeling any time I look back at pictures from my trip. Whether you’re into history, art, or just great food and scenery, Spain has something for everyone. The structured tour makes it even better, especially if you want to maximize your time and visit key places.”
A vital feature to any trip abroad is the indulgence in a completely different and uniquely amazing culture. This is amplified when immersed in a country with a language that is entirely different, which is the case for Spain. This immersion was one of Sam Shewmaker’s favorite parts of the trip.
“This trip is an amazing way to learn more about the outside world by temporarily escaping our American bubble while also developing new friendships with the other students and teachers on the trip” Shewmaker noted. “It was very cool to see up close topics that I learned about in the history classes and language classes I have taken here.”
Additionally, Shewmaker, a Spanish student currently enrolled in AP Spanish, found the trip to Spain to be a perfect opportunity to put the language skills he had been developing over the years into practice.
“If you are serious about developing your skills in the Spanish language, the best way is through cultural immersion,” Shewmaker expressed. “Speaking to locals, ordering in restaurants, reading about significant events and sites, etc. However, you should not be intimidated by the language barrier when considering whether or not to enroll. The tour guides employed by EF speak English during tours, and only rudimentary skills are needed for buying tickets, ordering in restaurants, or asking for directions.”
