Sophomore Luc Kelty shot an impressive one over par in the two-day, 36-hole state tournament, which tied for fourth overall for individuals.
Kelty started off slow in the final round being three over par through the first four holes; however, he showed resilience and shot one under par in the next five holes. He posted a two over par score of 38 through the front nine on the final day.
Kelty settled in on the back nine, shooting a one under par score of 35 with one bogey and two birdies, one of which came on the last hole of the tournament and solidified him with the top-five finish for the state tournament.
After day one, Kelty shot an even par 72 and was tied for fifth place and just two strokes behind the leader. Kelty made this trip alone to Bowling Green after qualifying in the regional tournament. Although Kelty was able to contend for a championship, the Tiger golf team fell short by one shot in the regional tournament.
Kelty’s top-five finish in the state tournament rounded off a very solid sophomore season, and he seems to be gaining valuable experience as he ends the underclassman chapter of his high school career and steps into his junior year with a hungry Tiger golf team that’s ready for redemption.
