This past weekend, sophomore Luc Kelty won the KIT Tournament shooting a whopping 4 under par (67). Kelty’s performance helped lead the Tigers to easy victory, at one of the biggest tournaments in Kentucky.
Additionally, Kelty is top three in the state of Kentucky for varsity golfers and hopes to be number one by the end of the year.
“I felt very excited going into the tournament although I was a little nervous being that it was our home tournament and one of the greatest high school golf tournaments in the state. Kelty said. To get over the nervousness I just took deep breathes and calmed down.”
With Kelty’s superb performances, the team has been on a rampage this year with a lot more to come. They have won the last 9 of 12 tournaments and have come in second in those other three. Kelty says a key factor to the teams success is their depth; the difference between the top ten players is only three shots and he says they have a lot of confidence and determination going into the post-season.
The depth that has come in clutch many times are Will Stuart, Dylan Logsdon, and Brody Alexander. They have consecutively shot below a 76 (5 over par) for the Tigers solidifying their team as being able to compete with the best of the best. Stuart also won the Shamrock Invitational a few weeks back to secure another victory for the Tigers.
