Mr. Durbin hosted a school-wide ping pong tournament on Tuesday and was an intense contest of highly skilled students. With roughly a dozen students participating, Christian Bell dominated the competition.
Xavier News’s own Gavin Metcalfe participated and lost in the first round. In the end, Bell defeated fellow classmate Nate Cotton in the final round to secure the victory. Bell has a love for the game and solid ping pong skills, which helped him on Tuesday during the tournament. Bell is a natural ping pong player, and the game comes to him easily.
“I just started to play when I just saw a table and played and I heard there was a club so I joined,” Bell said.
”My serve was the main reason I won,” Bell said. “I’ve been playing ping pong for about two years, but I don’t own a table. I just play when I feel like I want to.”
