Remembering Carl Mueller ’45

When going to a Saint Xavier baseball game, a sign recognizing the contributions of Carl Mueller ‘45 and his family welcomes fans into the stadium. Alongside his wife, Rosemary, the home of the nine time state champion baseball team bears his name. Mueller and his wife’s names also reside on the recently renovated weight room where athletes train to compete for state championships.

During his freshman year, senior Lorenzo Martinelli created a service organization , Tandem, aimed at connecting high schoolers with the elderly. Throughout covid, Martinelli and his sister, co-founder of Tandem, connected with their grandmother virtually and desired a way to spread this connection with other teenagers and seniors.

Soliday’s Service Adventure

What started as a hobby for Carter Soliday has turned into a passion for serving. This has led him to become a leader of the Ryken Service Club as a junior. He does not just show up to the bi-weekly meetings, he lives out the call to service. Soliday dedicates his time to Norton Children’s Hospital, Tigers Care Food Drives, Special Olympics, Toys for Tots, and the American Heart Foundation.

The Viscusi Learning Support Center is not only for students with accommodations but also for any student at St. X regardless of level. The center is two years old and constantly expanding as Mr. Kemper and Coach Cotty figure out more ways to serve the student population and be a helpful resource.
