The 2021 State Champion St. Xavier football team will go down in history as the team that brought St. X back. There was an undeniable drought for the program with it being 12 years since St. X won State in football, which is the longest gap between winning titles in program history. I had the privilege of being part of the 2021 team and championship culture that came with it.
The Tigers take on the Rocks in baseball Wednesday, April 27, and they need our support! This is a massive game for St. X as they play in a top five matchup in the state. These two heavy hitters have more on the line than just rivalry records and bragging rights.
"Before the match I was very confident about my chances at winning," Vap said. "Before this game I was 2-0 against Trinity (freshman year soccer team), now I’m proud to say I’m 3-0.”
The Tiger volleyball season is starting up and there is a lot of confidence in the team. The varsity team won State last year in a hard fought win against Trinity. This certainly means there are elevated expectations for this year's season. The team recently just lost to Trinity on Wednesday night 3-1 (23-25, 20-25, 25,20, 21-25), but this does not take away from the team’s desires and goals they plan to achieve. The team appears to not only have the goal of winning State but to propel themselves forward as well.
The St. X swimming and diving team is coming in hot with the current State Championship occurring this weekend. The team just won regionals last week and now with the State Championship coming up, it’s difficult not to be enthusiastic about our Tigers.
The team is currently in their offseason, but this certainly does not mean they are letting off the gas at all; these athletes are committed to doing anything and everything it takes to be at their very best for the upcoming season. Senior runners Roman Schrader and Nick Brooks, and sprinter Jax Imorde all have a great deal of confidence in their team.
While the world of archery is unfamiliar to the vast majority of St. X students, the sport is truly not much different from any of those that may be more well-known. Archery requires the same dedication and determination as football or baseball—along with its share of difficulties.
